Running
Some common issues:
Knee pain
Ankle sprain
Plantar fasciitis
ITB syndrome
Calf tendinitis
Running is one of most common sports/physical activity. It’s an excellent form of cardio that is often the most convenient, requiring no need for equipment beyond shoes and clothes.
It can however lead to injuries or possible issues in the upper or lower leg due to over training or due to poor physical conditioning.
At Qinetic wellness we address mobility and muscle imbalances that cause such conditions.
For knee issues, Often quadriceps are too strong due to running while the opposite muscle of hamstrings are too weak to support proper function of quadriceps. What happens is a shortening of the quadriceps due to being too strong and pulling the hamstrings in a stretched position causing both to not function properly.
The strategy of manual therapy helps to lengthen the quadriceps and exercise prescription to strengthen the hamstrings helps to bring proper muscle balance and reduce tension on the knee caused by the muscle imbalance.
